Sam Oliver has
cared for the needs of the dying in palliative care for over 17 years. During that time, he has served as the Chair,
and now, Co-Chair of the Hospice Ethics Committee at a Hospice Care Center in Northern Ohio. Sam has served several
years as a State Continuing Education Chairperson for the Association of Professional Chaplains. For well over a decade, Sam
has been an active editorial review board member and contributing writer for Healing Ministry Journal, The Journal of Terminal
Oncology, and The American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care.
Sam began his
speaking about spiritual care over 15 years ago and continues to speak at public engagements on the local, national, and international
levels. He has spoken at several college campuses and keynoted at several Hospice Conferences. His first book
of four "What the Dying Teach Us: Lessons on Living" is a Doubleday Book Club, One Spirit, and National Hospice and
Palliative Care Organization selection.
Sam's undergraduate
study was at Georgetown College with a B.A. in Psychology. He received his Master of Divinity at The Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky with an emphasis in the Pastor/Teacher track. In 2003, Sam finished
his postgraduate certificate in Healthcare Ethics through Rush University in Chicago, IL. Recently, Sam was the
Chaplain at a Hospice Care Center in Ohio. At this time, Sam is full time as a writer and speaker for spiritual
care issues related to death and dying.

Rachel
Schmidt’s company Healthcare Marketing & Strategies mission is to improve
access to quality hospice care through public education, professional training and consumer advocacy. She conducts workshops for health care professionals and consumer groups on the benefits of hospice and
palliative care.
With
a team of healthcare professionals the firm offers road maps for hospice providers to effectively hone their marketing strategies
and educate their surrounding communities on the benefits of hospice care.
Rachel works to be an independent voice
for hospice growth and understanding by increasing professional knowledge and raising public awareness so that hospice is
readily accessible for Americans of all ages.
Prior
to entering the hospice arena, Rachel worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb for 24 years in sales and marketing. Rachel is a graduate of Hunter College, New York City with a bachelor’s
degree in Health Education.

Ron’s presentation, Mastering the Art of Hospice Case Management,
is laced with humor and serious real life experiences about his time caring for hospice patients and families. He delivers
this presentation in his dynamic fashion, and it is a favorite among hospice registered nurses, care coordinators and
social workers.
Ron also provides a high energy message to hospice board of directors that gives insight on many challenges facing
the industry and how board members can get the most of their hospice experience. Board members gain prospective and walk away with a better understanding and appreciation for their
